We are recruiting on behalf of a world leading IT Services consultancy who are looking for an experienced Dat & Information architect with a deep understanding of PostgreSQL Database Management System and OLTP SQL.

The successful candidate will be supporting the design, implementation and post build activities of an operational database built using PostgreSQL. The role will also support the overall solution design of the system to meet the client needs, including the inputs and outputs between the scope and other areas of the programme.

Responsibilities

This is a technical role with the following responsibilities:

• Provide architectural support for integrating data with external and internal data sources.
• Accountable for data quality and governance processes
• Accountable for ensuring that solutions pay consideration to scalability, reliability, availability, and security.
• Accountability for developing and communicating data architectural roadmaps that support and fulfil the end to end business and functional requirements, and ensuring individual projects align with the overall goals.
• Responsible for designing and validating data solutions that are practical, flexible, scalable, reusable and strategic.
• Accountable for specification, management and maintenance of the Data Dictionary, the end to end Data Model and Data Lineage
• Create and maintain the detailed design of the PostgreSQL database
• Liaise with the offshore delivery team for the PostgreSQL database
• Be the point of contact for other design, delivery and test teams for queries as to the design of the PostgreSQL database
• Be the point of contact for solution design as to the behavior of the overall system
• Understand overall scope of the solution within wider programme
• Management and co-ordination of test data
• Support testing activities, both internally and externally
• Responsible for the production and maintenance of Low Level Design Documentation, ensuring consistency between the requirements and the actual implementation
• Responsible for ensuring that the Low Level Designs align to Architecture Blue Prints, Design Guidelines, and Design Patterns for the Domain
• Provides direction and assistance to Developers and Testers, proactively sharing knowledge and information in order to ensure that designs are implemented and tested successfully
• Accountable for the accurate transformation of designs into implementation
• Responsible for responding to design related queries and ensuring that design documentation is updated to improve areas of uncertainty

Skills and Experience

• Advanced understanding of OLTP SQL database design
• Understanding of PostgreSQL
• Advanced understanding of procedural SQL
• Understanding of Middleware and interactions between databases and Java
• Experience of solution design across multiple components
• Background knowledge of SQL, JAVA and Oracle BI
• Documentation creation and review to a high standard
• Understand business scenarios within the context of operational databases
