THE ROLE
Responsibilities

� Provide the overall objectives, direction, values and attitudes for the project team
� Provide the focal point of contact between the customer and my client team on all operational project matters, liaising closely with the business development team on all extension and change business matters
� Establish and organise the resources available to the project in an appropriate manner to enable the achievement of the project objectives in accordance with the agreed specification, plan and cost budget, and as otherwise required by my client management.
� Manage supplier and subcontractor selection, and manage the processes and relationships to ensure that the required products and services are provided to the project team in a timely and cost effective manner.
� Implement formal mechanisms for the planning, change control, monitoring and control of progress of project activities against baseline plans.
� Identify and quantify the potential risks to the project, and prepare containment plans to minimize or obviate their impact on the project throughout the duration of the project.
� Manage the efficient operation of the contract with the customer, ensuring that the internal project baselines, plans and processes are compatible with the satisfaction of the requirements of the contract, initiating change control action to change the contractual baseline whenever appropriate.
� Actively seek to use the opportunities provided by working with the customer, and the change control provisions provided by the contract, to extend the scope of profitable business for my client.
� Maintain financial and time accounting records and systems to allow the approval of expenditure and the accurate reporting of costs properly incurred and forecast by the project, and the timely issuing of customer invoices.
� Establish and maintain adequate records to identify the contractual and commercial baseline and the status of all matters of substance with the customer, suppliers and sub-contractors.
� Implement processes to ensure that all staff have clear accountabilities and objectives, and have regular reviews of their performance.

EXPERIENCE

� Experience of project management
� Experience in setting up a PMO for a programme
� Prior experience in setting up / working with offshore development partners advantageous
� Experience of the media or publishing industry (a bonus)
� Experience of a working in large scale project / programmes of change (5 � 10 years)
� Experience of Content Management systems advantageous
� Technical knowledge (J2EE, Application servers, �)
� Fluent in German - conversational English essential
� Must be open to travel - up to 2-3 weeks per month on average.
